Description
April marks the anniversary of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Though memorials dot the countryside and a week in April is dedicated to remembrance, people still speak little of the genocide. It isn't even taught in schools, so some children who were very young or not yet born in 1994 only know the sparse details most survivors are willing to share.
But one mother-daughter pair talks freely about what happened as a way to remember the loved ones they lost. Reporter Prudent Nsengiyumva brings us this profile of a family who has confronted their history.
